Hello, my name is Jenn, and I am a book addict. I love reading fiction. I always have. I thank my mom who, when I was younger, used to lay in bed with me at night, before I went to sleep, and read books like The Hobbit to me. I would miss the bus to school because I was so absorbed in my reading -- and I'm still that way. I have to limit how many books I read so that I will be a good mom and wife. Often I will sacrifice sleep to get in some reading time (OK, maybe not lately. Sleep is a precious commodity right now!)

So, I've recently finished writing a book of my own. It is a YA fantasy fiction and I am probably about a week or two away from being ready to send it out to agents and publishers! I am really excited about it! Even if it never gets published (though I hope it does!) I feel such a sense of accomplishment just having done it, and it is so nice, as a mom, having a little world of my own to escape to for a little while each day! If any of you knows of any agents or publishers that I might be able to contact, please let me know!

I am also thinking about starting a book review blog. Just my own thoughts and opinions about the books I read. It's just an idea right now, we'll see. And if anyone out there is writing something of their own, there is this really cool blog called The Bookshelf Muse. The writer has created all these amazing descriptive thesaurus. You should check it out!

Leave a comment and let me know what some of your favorite books are! I'm always looking for something new to read:)

very very exciting stuff! i know that when mike finished his book (which he finished and it needs revision and we've done nothing with it for a couple of years now) he sent it to a contact we had who was an editor. There are also some workshops that you can go to where you can meet publishers and such. just a thought. . . and now i know why you haven't been blogging much. . .you're busy writing in a different genre :) congrats on a huge accomplishment! and if YOU find any publisher info, send it our way too :)

I know that Thomas Nelson publishers will send you books for free if you do reviews on your blog. They're a Christian book publisher. I'm sure there are others that will do the same, I just haven't checked into it. Just FYI.

I'm interested to hear how things turn out with your book! That's exciting!

I comment on another blog on blogger and sometimes click on the "next blog" tab and see what turns up. And then, I sometimes comment on that blog. (Aren't we the lucky ones ... J/K!)

Anyway, for the reading material. I'm pretty sure I won't give you a new author to check out but giving it a try anyway. C.S. Lewis said that his master as far as writing was concerned was George MacDonald. George was a Scottish or Irish (not sure) pastor and wrote fantasy. The website Arthur's Classic Novels has some of George's works to read for free. My favorite is Photogen and Nycteris but that is because it is romantic. "Back at the North Wind" is one of George's more well-known works.

I will leave you with an interesting story. (Maybe you have already heard it.) C.S. and J.R. used to meet frequently at Cambridge University to chat, compare notes, and get advice. As the story goes J.R. told C.S. to scrap the "Chronicles" because they weren't any good. I would have loved to sit in and hear some of their discussions.

Anyway, I wish you the best with your book and life in general. I will leave you again and this time with a couple quotes and that from Oswald Chambers.

"The good is always an enemy of the best"

"Beware of harking back to what you once were when God wants you to be something that you have never been"
