Ode to Bruno

Bruno is our first child that we have had for about a year and a half. He is the calmest dog in the world. He almost never barks. When he was a puppy we had to put a bell on the door for him to ring when he wanted to go outside to the bathroom because he wouldn't bark. We have to bribe him with treats to get a little woof out of him. He likes to lay on "his" ottoman by the window all day and look at the passer byers. He also lays and sleeps in the craziest positions.

Believe me this isn't even one of his craziest. He is also a dream with kids. It was the one thing I was worried about, him not ever being around kids before. But we got to test it out when my brother-in-law, Andre, sister-in-law, Kim, and niece, Jenna came to live with us for a few months.

He and Jenna get along amazingly. Bruno loves to eat the food that Jenna throws on the floor for him, and Jenna loves to pet his soft fur and bark at him (Jenna barks more than Bruno does). The truth is that Bruno is very patient and will let Jenna do just about anything to him, and he will either just walk away or roll his eyes and lay there.

This last picture we were all watching tv and suddenly looked down, and there is Jenna sitting on Bruno. She could hardly walk at the time, but she managed to get on him, and Bruno just laid there sleeping away. It has given me a lot of peace that our first child and our second child will probably get along pretty well and that our first child won't be banished to the back yard for the rest of his life. I love you Bruno, you're a great dog!

jenn, this is so funny.

jenna just sat here in my lap as i read your blog. i asked jenna, "what does bruno say?" and she said "arf." i was looking through some pictures of our christmas together from 2 years ago and bruno was quite a bit smaller. there is one other thing that is funny about my picture of him, i think it is worthy of your blog. i will email it to you and you can decide.

Awww! Bruno is so sweet. I hope my two dogs will be good with Olivia when she gets here. They are not as calm as Bruno, but they are very sweet.

remember the time bruno sat on jenna head? all in good fun though...i mean, what else can you do if you dont bark, bite or snap at children...you sit on their head.

Ha ha, Tara, too true. I guess he is more of the passive aggressive type. He doesn't like to do anything too obvious. Also, I realized that we both did dog blogs in the same week. Weird.

Aubrey, Bruno is a Portuguese name. It was always kind of a joke between Filipe and I since we were dating that Bruno would be the name of someone really cool. Then I bought him a beanie baby dog that was named Bruno, and the little saying on his tag was all about how he was really cool and all the other beanie babies loved him. So it was only natural that we would name our dog Bruno, because of course he is awesome and all the other dogs want to be like him. Who is the Bruno in Cinderella?

aww, the beloved bruno. Andy's wise elder and mentor. After being inspired by Bruno's love of his ottoman, we hope to find Andy one like it someday. especially since he "poo-pooed" the pillow we bought him and stubbornly has claimed the coach as him own.

umm... tara, bruno sitting on jenna's head - not funny! the thing that was funny is that the dum dum didn't even realize what he was doing. i kept trying to get him to move and he was like "what? what?" excitedly. i love dogs, and i love bruno, but that was definitely a "stupid dog!" moment.

and then there was the time that he put his anus right in her face, barf. and yet jenna still loves him.

jenn, i think that there is a mouse named bruno in cinderella.
